APLI vs. other API Methods
If APLI is compared with other API Methods like ESI, APCI or APPI, several particular characteristics of the method becomes apparent:
- Direct ionization of appropriate analyte ions without need for chemical interaction between analyte and other species for primary ionization
- Very high sensitivity for appropriate analytes
- APLI is a selective method: Only analytes with adequate spectroscopic characteristics are directly ionized
- Chemical labelling with APLI Markers is possible
- Total spatial independence of the ion forming region, independence of ion formation from electrical fields
- Easy combination of APLI with other API Methods like APCI and ESI is easily possible
