APLI vs. other API Methods

If APLI is compared with other API Methods like ESI, APCI or APPI, several particular characteristics of the method becomes apparent:
  • Direct ionization of appropriate analyte ions without need for chemical interaction between analyte and other species for primary ionization
  • Very high sensitivity for appropriate analytes
  • APLI is a selective method: Only analytes with adequate spectroscopic characteristics are directly ionized
  • Chemical labelling with APLI Markers is possible
  • Total spatial independence of the ion forming region, independence of ion formation from electrical fields
  • Easy combination of APLI with other API Methods like APCI and ESI is easily possible
